I’m Simon, and this is my blog. It doesn’t exist to fulfil any meaningful purpose; I don’t write about any one subject in particular, just about whatever comes to mind. Frequent topics seem to be politics, music, motorsport, technology and engineering; but really it’s just whatever’s floating through my mind when I come to write on the blog.
Erm.. So I’m not really sure what to put in an “about” section. I suppose I should say a little about me. Well, I’m in my early twenties. I’m a recent Civil Engineering graduate, and I’m currently studying for an MSc in Water Resources at the University of Birmingham. Like most engineers I’m more than a little bit geeky, and so I’m pretty obsessed with technology. Partly because I like shiny gadgetry, but mostly because I love the way that technology can change the way we work and play.
I’m a massive motorsport fan; in particular car and circuit racing, but frankly I’ll watch anything with wheels and an engine. I also keep in touch with politics and current affairs, and so I’m not unknown to rant about that from time to time. Actually, those two topics probably comprise most of my blogging at the moment…
If I’m honest, the main point of the site is to entertain me. I enjoy writing, and I think it’s an important skill to keep practising. And it’s also an excuse to have a website, so I can periodically play around with web design.
